Mancats Exercise

The other day we decided to weigh Tanner. He struggles with eating too much and it is starting to show again. We had been working on his weight, although not as consistently and strictly as we did in the beginning. He has been down to close to 17 lbs, but at this weigh-in, he topped the scales at 19 lbs! We vowed to monitor him more closely...Later we went into Aunties room, and this is what we found...
Tanner exercising!
He hopped on the elliptical by himself and is trying to lose weight. I am not sure his regiment will burn enough calories to help him lose, but it is a step in the right direction...
I need to find a way keep on target with Tanner's weight loss. He has his annual cardiology visit in June and we do not want to get another lecture on his size! That was most embarassing last time :) Last year they were pleased that he had maintained for the whole year...so we at least need to get back down to about 18 lbs. We will keep you posted...

If you have any suggestions on losing please let us know. We are currently feeding him a prescription diet of low calorie and high protein and fiber, along with some canned food daily.

Happy Gotcha and Angelversary Mojo

Mojo was adopted on February 25, 2006...he became an angel February 25, 2009.

He lived with me almost a whole year as a foster cat before I adopted him. We are not exactly sure how old he was at the time. He was a great cat and just fit in beautifully with our family.

Funny note...he slept with me every single night, until I signed his adoption papers...then he moved to Aunties room! What a stinker :)
He and Tanner shared a common love of food! Mojo needed to gain weight and Tanner was there to support him... Devon, Smokey and Mojo enjoyed each others company. I loved seeing the boys hanging out together or sleeping near one another...it warmed my heart and I know I had made the right decision in keeping Mojo.

In 2008, Mojo was diagnosed with Fibrosarcoma. He threw a party for his friends!
Here he is waiting for his guests to arrive...look at that loot table!
February 25, 2009...Mojo's last day with us. His tumor was causing problems, and we felt his pain was not under control any more. We had his dear friend and vet come to the house to help him cross the rainbow bridge.
Fly High Superman...you were a great cat and friend. Missing you but remembering you fondly today!

Tussle on Tuesday

Smokey and Cousin Sophie have been sweethearts from the first day Sophie came home. Smokey used to follow her around and protect her. There is a bit of an age difference, but they don't seem bothered by it.
Look at this adorable goose...how sweet!
Cousin Sophie making eyes at Smokey...how cute.
Love swats...
At least it didn't last long...look how sweet we are being again...Smokey is a bit aloof...can't be too obvious when you like someone...
Another smack down in the making...

Mancats Love Fresh Air

These pictures might be from a few months ago, but this is how we spent our weekend...Mancats love fresh air!
It was a gorgeous weekend here in NC, and we took advantage of the warmer weather and opened the windows for the boys. Everyone slept so hard after getting all that fresh air!
We do hope the colder weather will return as we are not ready for spring yet...some of you might think that is crazy, but here in the South, summer follows with a vengeance and we do not like the hots!
It's nice to get the house aired out...and hear the birds outside. This window is a favorite spot because in the tree there are a few suet feeders...lots of birdies hand out near this window!
We hope you all had a great weekend too...

Annual Performance Review

As the Four Crazy Cats, we collectively decided to give our mom 4 Paws Up for her participation in our blog in 2010. Here we will break down how we came to that rating...

Quanity of Output - Although mom did not post everyday, we felt she did a good job of being consistent with the posts. 3 paws.

Quality of Output - Mom was very attentive to our needs and desires for posts. She kept the content interesting and relavent to the readers. We were allowed to help with each post. 4 paws.

Client Pawticipation - We were allowed to have a couple of contests this year. We hope to have more of those in 2011....4 paws.

Pawticipation - We participated in many fun activities through the blogsphere and other blogging friends. We loved the special events and plan to participate again this year. 4 paws.

Client Satisfaction - Smokey says there should have been more posts dedicated to him because he is the reason we have readers and only gave 2 paws. Devon thinks Tanner had too many posts about him...just because you are the fattest cat in the house, doesn't mean you get the most attention. Beauty should be more important than fat! 1 paw. Tanner was happy with his coverage but doesn't feel he should have to share with the others...3 paws.

Overall rating - 4 paws. Although there is room for improvement, we felt mom did a great job of representing what was going on in the house. She tried to evenly post about us all, even mentioning the cousins and Angel Mojo at times. We want to post more regularly, and we are working with mom to get her routine down a better.

Thank you all for continuing to support our blog by leaving comments. We have enjoyed getting to know you all...

Foster Flashback

Pirate started out as a foster kitten. He had a peg leg and that's how he got his name. He was born this way, so it didn't really hinder him at all. The only problem was he would bang it on stuff when he jumped, so we had it removed. He does much better without the stub of a leg to slow him down.
Here is he as a kitten...He went to a couple of adopt-a-thons with our rescue organization, but he was so ornery. He would scream if someone touched him, like they were killing him. He was not trying to 'sell' himself :) It worked though...my sister, Auntie kept him.
Today Pirate is a happy mancat, almost 8 years old. He is at the vet today getting his teeth cleaned. We would appreciate some purrs for him.
